The new SmartWatch 3 is identical to the original apart from its chic new look. Although Sony says it has a new body that lets you swap the straps for any standard watch strap.
That’s handy because Sony also announced that it has partnered with loads of fashion brands to make your SmartWatch 3 even more personal.
Sony also announced an update to the Lifelog app that runs on the SmartWatch 3, SmartBand and SmartBand Talk and automatically keeps a digital diary and fitness log. Now the app can be accessed on your computer through a web browser. And Sony has released the code that runs it so other apps can make use of your data if you want them to.
But Sony didn’t just make announcements about wearables. It’s also brought back Walkman as an MP3 player. It’s set to cost almost £1,000, but we’re not sure why.
We expect Sony’s biggest announcements of the year to be made in March at Mobile World Congress. But until then it’s nice to see small improvements to an already impressive line-up of wearables. Let us know what you think of the steel SmartWatch 3 in the comments below.
