BlackBerry Classic vs BlackBerry Passport

We recently saw the arrival of the BlackBerry Passport, a phone unique in design and specifically intended to make business that little bit easier. But, how does it compare to the brand new BlackBerry Classic? This is how they measure up…

Straight off the bat, the two handsets look very different. Although they’re both without a doubt BlackBerry products, you tell by the way they look that they work quite differently.

The Passport has shed the navigational buttons that have been present on the majority of BB’s previous phones, and they now appear on-screen. You’ll also notice that there’s no track pad, which has been cleverly hidden underneath the QWERTY keyboard.

The Classic on the other hand is as user-friendly as you remember it, quite reminiscent of the Bold and Curve models from back in the day.

Both handsets feature BlackBerry’s most up-to-date operating system, BB10.3, which is jam-packed with features to make your experience all the better. And, thanks to the integration of the Amazon Appstore, a wide range of Android apps are now available to BB users.

Camera-wise, the Passport has definitely taken it up a gear, featuring a 13 megapixel shooter – the highest resolution lens ever to have appeared on a BlackBerry handset.

In comparison, the Classic features an 8 megapixel camera, which is still capable of capturing a pretty decent shot, although you’ll find that colours look a little washed out. See our video above for an example.

Both phones are brilliant for practicality, and offer the means to organise both your personal and professional life. It must be said the Passport really stands out with the hidden track pad and improved camera, but if you enjoyed the original BlackBerry models, there’s no doubt you’ll be a fan of the Classic.
