Right now, if you forget the passcode or password on your phone, you can have an awful time trying to unlock it – enter the wrong password enough times, and you can be locked out of your phone for days.
It’s an easy and cruel prank to do on your friends, but it usually ends up with the person having to factory reset their phone just to be able to make phone calls again.
With the Windows 10 software update, though, you’ll no longer be able to torment your friends.
Instead, you’ll get four chances to enter your passcode. If you enter the wrong one four times, you’ll be asked to prove you’re human before getting one last chance to get your code right. If your fifth attempt fails, your phone will lock and you’ll need to restart it.
If you still can’t remember your passcode, you’ll be able to change it using your Microsoft Account on your computer. That means you won’t have to wipe your phone to get around the lock screen.
