Sony Xperia XZ3 unveiled at IFA 2018

Sony has just unveiled its much-rumoured Xperia XZ3 smartphone, here in Berlin. And the rumours were true – it’s a big-screen phone with a dual 19MP + 13MP camera, and some stunning photography skills. Read on for more on Sony’s newest handset.

Big screen fun and immersive entertainment

How big? Sony confirmed that the Xperia XZ3 has a 6-inch OLED QLED glass screen with HDR. It sounds a real treat, since Sony has been using the same award-winning technology from its BRAVIA TV range to make the phone’s screen. And that means black tones appear sharper on screen, and images appear sharper and crammed with colour.

That screen’s going to be fantastic for watching movies on, and it’ll make your friends jealous of how good your favourite Netflix shows look. Sony says it will be one of the first devices to get the new Android Pie update, so that’s another thing to look forward to seeing in all its glory.

A gaming experience you can feel

The Sony Xperia XZ3 will also feature a Dynamic Vibration System to literally rock your gaming world. It analyses audio data to react to what’s happening on the screen. Sony says it will help us be more immersed in our favourite entertainment, whether that be movies or games.

A phone that feels smarter

And like a lot of the latest phones, the Xperia XZ3 also has AI inside, which will make your phone feel quicker to use, and give it a more personal touch. A feature called Side Sense predicts your next move, based on how you use your phone.

Never miss a moment

You’ll be taking some corking photos on the XZ3 too, thanks to its 19MP rear and 13MP front cameras. Sony talked up how amazing that 13MP front camera is for taking selfies, and capturing classy portraits. Also promised is a new range of bokeh and beauty effects. If you’re a social media selfie fiend, you’ll love it.

Top-notch 4K video with a side order of slow-mo

The video skills don’t disappoint either. You can capture videos in the highest quality 4K standard, and record in super slow motion at 960 frames per second for a super dramatic montage of anything you fancy.

Sony says the Xperia XZ3 will launch in September, with European pre-orders available soon. So, look out for the Sony Xperia XZ3 at Carphone Warehouse real soon.
