Samsung has just unveiled the Galaxy Note9 at its Unpacked event in New York, with DJ Koh, Samsung CEO, introducing it as “a smartphone powerful enough to keep up with you. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, whatever you need.”
Read on for a breakdown of everything that was revealed at the big event…
“The S Pen is what makes the note a note”
John Wong, Samsung Director of Product Marketing, confirmed that the all-new S Pen is Bluetooth-enabled and can work as a remote control. He then revealed that he was controlling the presentation with his S Pen, with a seamless demonstration of how to change slides.
“A larger canvas for writing with your S Pen or watching Youtube”
The Note9 will have the largest Infinity Display ever, measuring 6.4-inches. As you’d expect from Samsung, the quality will be superb – Quad HD+ Super AMOLED, no less.
“Every shot is Instagram ready”
The 12MP + 12MP dual lens camera is packed with loads of exciting camera tech. For example, the camera scene optimiser recognises your surroundings, and optimises colours to help you take detailed shots.
“The world’s most powerful mobile device”
The 4,000mAh battery is the largest that’s ever been on a Note. According to Drew Blackard, Samsung’s Senior Director of Product Marketing: “You can power through an entire day with just your phone in your pocket.”
Two versions of the Note9 will be available. One with 128GB of inbuilt storage and 6GB RAM, and a bigger model with 512GB storage and 8GB RAM. Both sizes come with the option of adding an additional 512GB memory with a microSD card.
“As far as gaming goes, it’s a device that packs a serious punch”
Note9 owners will be able to play Fortnite on their device as soon as they get it. Tim Sweeney, the founder of Epic games, came on stage to announce that Fortnite would be available on all Android phones soon, with Galaxy owners being able to download it right now. The reason for this was simple, he said: “Samsung makes the best performing Android devices in the world.”
