LG G4 vs LG G4c

Like many of the world’s biggest smartphone makers, LG is looking to cover all the bases by announcing a smaller, cheaper version of its flagship smartphone – the LG G4c. While they may have similar names, don’t be fooled, there are quite a few differences between these two.

To start, the G4c is more compact. Its 5-inch screen is more finger-friendly than the LG G4’s 5.5-inch one. But, of course, its bright, crisp HD resolution can’t really compete with the Quad HD Quantum Display of the big phone.

Despite the size difference, the two designs aren’t a million miles apart. The G4c even manages to feel as solid as the G4. The biggest difference is that you’ll only find the distinctive leather back on the flagship phone.

Surprisingly, the LG G4c feels as fast as the bigger phone, even though it has a slower processor. It might not run the biggest and best games as smoothly, but for everyday use it’s just as quick as the G4.

Both phones also come with the same software, including LG’s handy features – there’s Knock On, which lets you turn the phone on by double-tapping the screen. Gesture Shot, where you can take a selfie by making a fist. And Knock Code, which keeps your phone secure with a unique pattern of taps.

On the camera front, the G4c is a long way behind the G4. Its 8MP rear camera can’t come close to the 16MP one on the flagship as it doesn’t have the same manual controls and photos taken in auto mode aren’t as sharp or colourful. The 5MP front camera isn’t so far behind the G4’s 8MP one, but it’s still not quite as good for selfies.

Overall, if you’re after a great value compact phone, the LG G4c has a lot to offer. Of course the G4 is better, but it’s LG’s flagship and comes with a price tag to match its awesome features.
