Corning Gorilla Glass is used in more than 3 billion devices to make screens tougher. Most smartphones use it. And now Corning has announced its 4th generation of Gorilla Glass.
Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is meant to be twice as good at surviving drops as other toughened glass, so it’ll survive a drop from 1 metre 80 per cent of the time.
To create the new glass, Corning tested hundreds of phones and found that they could best simulate the real world using sandpaper. That let them rigorously test new designs for Gorilla Glass 4 in the lab where they could examine the results.
