A new software update is available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge that brings some features from the new S6 edge+.
The new update changes the look of your phone’s software, bringing a slightly new design to app icons and the font. You’ll also get some improvements to sound quality thanks to UHQ upscaler and Vacuum Tube Amp Pro.
If you have the S6 edge, you’ll also get Apps Edge – one of the big features from the new edge+. This lets you slide out a list of favourite apps from the curved edge of your phone, not just a list of your favourite contacts. It means you can jump between apps in under a second, which is handy in our fast-paced lives.
You can still bring up your favourite contacts with the edge screen, and now when you select one, you’ll have some quick options for how you want to contact them – call, text or email – so you can save even more time.
If you happen to be reading this in South Korea, the update also brings Samsung Pay to your S6 or S6 edge. This is Samsung’s rival to Apple Pay, only it can use the magnetic strip reader on card machines so businesses don’t need to upgrade to ones with NFC readers.
The update was released yesterday in South Korea, but we found it was available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge in Lowdown Towers today.
