How does the new phone compare to last year's Note?

Galaxy S6 edge+ vs Note 4

After months of rumours, Samsung has finally lifted the curtain on its new phablet, the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. Given that it has a big screen, we thought we’d take a look at how it differs to last year’s giant phone, the Note 4.

The main difference between the two phones is that the edge+ doesn’t have an S Pen stylus, the unique pen that gives you handy ways to control the Note.

Instead, Samsung’s used its double-edged screen to give the new phablet something different. It makes the phone look and feel even thinner than it is, and also gives you easy access to your favourite contacts and apps.

The new edge plus has a few improvements over the older Note on the inside too. For example, it’s the first phone with 4GB RAM, 25% more than on the Note. That makes it a lot better at multitasking. It also has a newer processor, giving better performance in general.

When it comes to battery, the Note wins the size battle. But because the edge plus has a newer, more efficient processor, there shouldn’t be much difference in battery life. And when you do come to charge the new edge+, you can use faster wireless charging to top up 30% quicker.

It’s hard to split them on camera quality too, with both phones having a 16 megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, although the new edge does have a better selfie camera.
