You’re never too old for a new phone
Today our leader and luminary, Queen Elizabeth II, turns 90. But, while the monarch is blowing out her candles, we can’t help but wonder if she’ll be receiving birthday texts from her nearest and dearest.
Royal biographer, Penny Junor, reports that our head of state does in fact have a mobile phone: “She does have a mobile and she speaks to her grandchildren on it,” says Junor. “I don’t know whether it’s a smartphone though.”
It’s fairly safe to assume that Liz isn’t flicking through Twitter before bed, but it does beg the question - which phone it suitable for royalty?
A phone fit for the Queen
If we were to hazard a guess, our money would be on Doro - a manufacturer that specialises in producing phones for the elderly.
Doro’s phones are specifically designed to beeasy to hold, featuring big, clear buttons and bright screens. This will prove helpful for those hard of sight or suffering with arthritis.
The beauty of a Doro phone, however, is that it doesn’t lack features. The Doro PhoneEasy 612 has a handy camera that’s as easy to use as the rest of the phone. And, the Doro Liberto 820 Mini, for example,is a fully-fledged smartphone. Doro has even built an app into its phones that lets friends and family adjust settings, install apps, and even upload photos remotely, so help is always at hand. If you’re reading this, Harry, you’re up.
But, that’s not to say that the older generation can’t enjoy today’s top smartphones, too. The new Samsung Galaxy S7 has an ‘Easy Mode’ that turns apps and contacts into big, clearly labelled buttons so it’s easy to get around the phone. That means even those who found smartphones complicated in the past don’t have to sacrifice the extra features.
