We’re not sure who started the ‘extreme stress test’ trend. It might even have been Carphone Warehouse, with this phones vs hockey stick challenge. But there’s no doubt about it – taking smartphone testing to ridiculous extremes is becoming a bit of an internet video phenomenon. Were you wondering if the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge could withstand an assault from a hammer? No, neither were we. But nevertheless, this video shows you exactly what would happen if you ‘accidentally’ started smashing your S6 Edge with a wicked looking claw hammer. Why would anyone subject their lovely new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to this kind of treatment? We have no idea.
LG G Flex Torture Test
Okay, we’ll admit it – we always wanted to see what would happen if someone tried bending the LG G Flex as far back as they could. The guys from FullMag do exactly that, in this comprehensive video that also includes a standard drop and water resistance test. Unfortunately they then spoil their serious testing credentials by shooting the LG G Flex to pieces with an AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifle.
Nokia 3510 brick phone vs liquid nitrogen
The Nokia 3510 phone was famed for its durability. But Nokia didn’t count on the guys from Wired’s Battle Damage dropping it into a vat of liquid nitrogen. The result is fairly conclusive – it turns out that liquid nitrogen doesn’t make your phone more durable.

As any Scotsman will tell you, deep frying can improve almost anything. But does this include the Samsung Galaxy S5? This video reveals all. Just in case you’re tempted, please don’t try this test at home (or any of the other tests, come to think of it).

These crazy stress testers seem to have it in for the poor old Samsung Galaxy S5. It’s been deep fried in the test above, and now we’re going to witness it take a bath in liquid mercury (who has liquid mercury just lying around?).
