O2 APN Settings

If you're trying to access mobile internet or send multimedia messages on the O2 network. This guide to APN settings will help you get your smart phone connected so you can browse the web, use email, and send MMS messages.

O2 APN Settings

Some of the settings are different for contract and pay as you go SIM cards. The settings shown here are for O2 contract SIM cards, and options for PAYG SIMs are shown in brackets.

Android APN settings for O2

Here's how to manually add the O2 mobile internet settings on an Android phone.

  1. Open Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap Wireless and networks or More (this'll depend on your Android version).
  3. Tap Mobile networks > Access point names.
  4. Tap the Menu button (this could be the lower left soft key, 3 dots in the top right corner, or the word 'more').
  5. Tap New APN.
  6. Type the following:
  • Name: o2 Internet
  • APN: mobile.o2.co.uk (PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk)
  • Username: o2web (PAYG: payandgo)
  • Password: password
  • MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
  • MMS Proxy: 82.132.254.1
  • MMS Port: 8080
  • Authentication type: PAP
  • APN type: If you're given a choice of options, pick internet+mms. If the keyboard shows, type in a * symbol.
  1. Tap Menu > Save.
  2. Pick the name we've just created.
  3. Next to the signal bars, you'll now see 4G, 3G, H, E or G. This shows you're now connected.

iPhone APN settings for O2

If your iPhone isn't downloading the O2 network settings automatically, here's how to add them manually.

  1. Tap Settings > Mobile/Cellular Data.
  2. Tap Mobile/Cellular Data Options.
  3. Tap Mobile/Cellular Data Network.
  4. Enter the information below:

Mobile or Cellular Data settings

  • APN: idata.o2.co.uk (PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk)
  • Username: vertigo (PAYG: payandgo)
  • Password: password
  • Visual Voicemail settings
  • APN: idata.o2.co.uk (PAYG: not used)
  • Username: vertigo (PAYG: not used)
  • Password: password (PAYG - not used)

MMS settings

  • APN: idata.o2.co.uk (PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk)
  • Username: vertigo (PAYG: payandgo)
  • Password: password
  • MMSC: http://mmsc-ac.mms.o2.co.uk:10021/mmsc
  • MMS Proxy: 82.132.254.1:8080
  • MMS Max Message Size: 2097152
  1. Press the left arrow at the top of the screen 3 times.
  2. Press the Home button.
  3. To make sure these settings have worked, look next to your signal bars. 4G, 3G, E or GPRS shows you're now connected.

BlackBerry APN settings for O2

Here are the O2 APN settings to manually connect your BlackBerry 10 phone to mobile data.

Internet APN

  1. Swipe downwards from the top of the screen to get you to the notification panel.
  2. Tap Settings > Network connections > Mobile network.
  3. Tap APN > Mobile plan and choose Contract or Prepay.
  4. Enter the following:
  • Access Point Name: mobile.o2.co.uk (PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk)
  • Username: o2web (PAYG: payandgo)
  • Password: password
  1. Tap Save (in the top right corner).
  2. You should now see 4G, 3G, H, E or G at the top of the screen. This shows you're connected.

MMS APN

  1. From the Home screen, swipe across to the BlackBerry Hub.
  2. Tap Menu (3 dots) > Settings.
  3. Tap Text messages, then tap Advanced.
  4. Type in these settings:
  • APN: mobile.o2.co.uk (PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk)
  • Username: o2web (PAYG: payandgo)
  • Password: password
  • MMSC URL: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
  • Proxy URL: 82.132.254.1:8080
  1. Tap Save at the bottom.

Windows phone APN settings for O2

Your Windows phone should connect to the web automatically, but if you're having problems, follow these steps to manually add the APN settings. The settings are different depending on the version of Windows you're using.

  1. Swipe the screen from right to left. This'll open your apps list.
  2. Tap settings > wireless and networks > mobile + SIM.
  3. Tap SIM settings > + add an internet APN.
  4. Type the following:
  • Profile name: o2 Internet
  • APN: mobile.o2.co.uk (PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk)
  • Username: o2web (PAYG: payandgo)
  • Password: password
  1. Tick the box next to 'Use this APN for LTE' then tap save.
  2. You'll now see 4G, 3G, H, E or G at the top of the screen. This shows that you've connected successfully.
  3. Tap + Add MMS APN.
  4. Type these settings:
  • Profile name: o2 MMS
  • APN: mobile.o2.co.uk (PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk)
  • Username: o2web (PAYG: payandgo)
  • Password: password
  • Proxy server: 82.132.254.1
  • Proxy port: 8080
  • MMSC (URL): http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
  • Maximum MMS size: 2097152

Scroll to the bottom and tap Save.
