Making waves with Twitter Moments

Any social media user worth their salt knows that Twitter is the one with the most to say (in 140 characters or less). But up until now it’s been more about the opinions of individuals, than showcasing the world’s hottest current events. That’s where Twitter Moments come in.

Moments were originally released back in October 2015, with Twitter and selected partners being the only ones able to curate stories on a range of topics. With Moments proving to be a success, Twitter then opened the public roll-on of the feature on 28 September.

What are Twitter Moments?

Moments are a collection of curated stories showcasing the biggest events happening on Twitter. They’re specially customised to show you only the most popular and current topics at the moment. This function means you can find out what’s happening on Twitter, instantly.

You’ll see the complete story of an event, stitched together through pictures, highlights, and headlines. Whether it’s the funniest new meme or an up and coming sports event, all you need to know can be located in one place.

This puts an end to trailing through Twitter to find the best tweets. Now you can just follow an event, and you’ll get the best tweets about it delivered directly to your timeline.

And because it’s public, if you spot a something big brewing on the horizon you can create a Moment yourself.

Here’s how to create your own Twitter Moment from your desktop in four quick and easy steps:

  1. Select the ‘Moments’ tab on your Twitter profile.

  1. Next, click on the option ‘Create new Moment’ in the right hand column of the page.

  1. You’ll then be asked to add a title, description, and cover to your moment.

  1. Pull in content, whether that’s tweets you’ve liked or searched for, and then publish.
