It’s easy to take your phone for granted, but sometimes it can be a real lifesaver. It’s just so handy for getting you out of a tight spot. Here are five times your phone has gotten you out of trouble.
That time you found an emergency route to work
You’re late to work, or worse, an interview for your dream job. You can either spend your time lamenting the dismal public transport infrastructure, or you can whip out your phone and use one of the many handy map apps available to help you find an alternative route.
Most of the popular apps, such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Citymapper are awesome at not only finding you an alternative route, but telling you how long it takes to get somewhere, and notifying you of possible further disruptions to your journey.
That time you found a place that does last minute flower deliveries
So, you’ve forgotten your wedding anniversary – oh, the shame! Thankfully you had a brainwave to download one of the many last-minute flower delivery apps, such as Bloom & Wild for iOS and Android, where you can find flowers for all occasions.
And if flowers are not enough, you can always use the Ocado app to buy some last-minute chocolates from your supermarket, or OpenTable for last minute seats at a romantic restaurant.
That time you used your phone’s torch to find your house keys
The torch on your phone is an essential tool for locating lost objects, such as your housekeys in the dark, or if you’ve dropped them under a table in a crowded bar- that’s why we’re showing some love to the trusty torch function, because we’d be lost without it.
That time you had to order a cab when you missed the last train
There’s nothing worse than missing the last train home after a night out. Braving the night bus is one option, but sometimes you want to get home in more comfort, and faster. Thankfully there are many cab apps available to help you get home. Don’t forget to check the reviews first though, and always make sure the company you choose is fully licensed, then you’re good to go.
That time you lost your boarding pass
Going away on holiday is great, but getting there can be stressful. The last-minute packing, the countless passport checks, and the dreaded rush to get to the check-in desk on time. It’s enough to make you want to take a vacation. Losing your boarding pass is another last-minute worry. The good news is most airline apps give you the option to check-in online. Just download your boarding pass to your phone, ready to show to your departure gate.
