Five cool things about the Sony Xperia XZ3

We were lucky enough to see Sony unveil its Xperia XZ3 for the first time at IFA 2018 in Berlin. It’s a seriously impressive phone, with some super technology crammed inside. From an amazing screen, to fantastic filming skills, here are five cool things you should know about the Sony Xperia XZ3.

It uses the same screen found on Sony’s BRAVIA TV range

One thing you can always expect from a Sony phone is a great screen. And the Sony Xperia XZ3 delivers, with a superb 6-inch OLED QHD+ display. But did you know it uses the same award-winning technology as found in Sony’s BRAVIA range of TVs?

In Berlin, Sony told us that means black tones appear deeper. And colours are sharper than ever, thanks to a High Dynamic Range picture, that pushes the screen to its limit. The result is, Sony says, an outstanding picture whatever you’re watching, or playing. It’s probably the closest you can get to having a miniature Sony BRAVIA TV in your pocket.

You can record videos in amazing 4K HDR quality

Cameras are another Sony speciality. On the Xperia XZ3 you’re looking at a 19MP rear camera, paired with a 13MP front camera. During the Xperia XZ3 launch, Sony talked up how amazing the front camera is at taking selfies, and praised it range of bokeh effects and beauty filters.

But it’s the 4K HDR video skills that might impress others most. 4K HDR video recording lets you capture scenes in incredible, almost lifelike quality, not just during the day, but at night too. With a wider colour spectrum, every moment you record looks as you remember it, in cinema quality.

A gaming experience that rocks your world

Mobile gaming will probably never feel the same once you’ve played on the Xperia XZ3. That’s because it has Sony’s Dynamic Vibration System, which analyses audio data, and vibrates according to what’s on screen. It does the same for movies, and music videos to provide that next level of realism.

Clever AI makes your phone easier to use

The Xperia XZ3 has AI technology inside, that knows how you use your phone, and predicts what you want to do next. Something called Side sense displays your favourite apps, so you don’t have to scroll to find them. You can just double tap anywhere on either side of the phone to get to your most-used apps faster.

It has built-in surround sound

Front-facing stereo speakers use Sony’s S-Force Front Surround sound to direct audio directly towards you, so none of it is wasted. You also get powerful bass, and an equaliser to fine-tune the listening experience.

And that rounds up the top things you need to know about the Sony Xperia XZ3. It’s a fantastic-sounding all-rounder, with superb photography skills, and a screen to die for. If you want one, you can order it from Carphone Warehouse.
