Been bowled over by the Samsung Galaxy Note9 yet? We can’t get enough. One of the main reasons we love it so much is because its huge 6.4-inch Quad HD+ display is perfect for multitasking on with split screen. This is when you can run two apps at once, along side each other. In short, you can get more done.

How to launch split-screen

Starting a split screen is super easy – all you have to do is drag and drop. Just open the apps you want to use in split-screen mode. Tap the app switcher icon (a square on the right side of the nav bar) and select the first app. Drag the app to the top of the screen to drop it into place. Once your first app is in place, simply tap the second app and it will appear in the bottom half of the screen.

Now, let’s run through some of the reasons multitasking is the way forward.

Research while you write

If you’re drafting an important email but are a little unsure on some of the finer details, you can research while you write. You can even do a crafty little copy/paste action – or just go ahead and drag the text over (if you’re feeling particularly lazy). This saves you having to open and close loads of different apps and browsers to get the info you need. Email sent!

Tweet while you watch

Do you have too many opinions on the latest telly not to share them on Twitter? Live tweeting during popular TV shows using the show's hashtag has been a craze for years. And, with split-screen you can live tweet without ever taking your eyes off the screen. Plus, it’s super handy if you’re out and about. It’ll certainly liven up a boring train journey, that’s for sure #lifegoals.

Game while you chat

Okay, so imagine this: you’re immersed in your favourite game – you’re fully in the zone and the clock is ticking. Then, suddenly your WhatsApp chat starts popping off, and it’s about your group meet up tonight. What do you do? The answer is both. Catch glimpses of group messages while you match confectionary, slay the enemy or throw birds into other birds. Now, that’s a true hero.

Instagram while you Facebook

If you can’t get enough of social media, why not scroll between two platforms at once? You can like, heart and retweet like the savviest of social media masters. Search for Facebook friends on Insta, copy/paste your latest tweet to Facebook – or set the Gram alight with something pleasing from Pinterest. Multitasking takes social media to a whole new level.

Get creative with your stylus

Fancy yourself as a bit of an artiste? If you use a stylus on your device, you can unleash your creative side and try your hand at drawing something from reference. Brush up on your technique and create drawings of your favourite people or iconic characters, bursting with detail. What a masterpiece.​
