5 of the best Google Daydream VR apps

The Google Play Store has thousands of amazing apps and games to download. But for something really different, get yourself a Google Daydream View or View 2 VR headset, and step into the world of virtual reality.

Unlike some headsets out there, Daydream View doesn’t cost very much, and it’s compatible with a wide range of Android smartphones. Just insert your phone, and enjoy interactive experiences unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Here’s just some of the best Google Daydream View apps to get you started…

Google Street View

You’ve probably used Google Street View countless times. But just wait until you’ve tried it in VR. Donning your Daydream View headset lets you explore landmarks, natural wonders, museums, and other places of interest as if you were at those locations for real. Just tilt your head at any angle for a full 360-degree view of any Street View location around the world. You’ll be lost for hours with this app. And it’s free. Download it here.

Rez Infinite VR

If you had to pick a VR game to show your friends the magic of VR, Rez Infinite would be it. A winner of over 40 awards and nominations, Rez Infinite is a highly acclaimed rhythm game where you blast through scores of enemies to a funky techno soundtrack. The environments are beautiful, and the soundtrack is truly captivating. The overall experience will dazzle your senses. Rez Infinite is a must-have in your Daydream View games library. Download it here.

YouTube VR

Stuck for something to watch? Then fire up YouTube VR. There’s plenty to keep you entertained for hours no matter your taste. Watch wildlife videos that let you step into jungle heartlands, or gig it up at a music concert. Go surfing without getting wet, or skydive without having to jump out of a plane. New 360-degree videos get uploaded every single day by millions of video creators, so there’s always something new to watch. Download it here.

Mekorama

In Mekorama you take control of a little robot that you must guide through 50 challenging levels. It’s one of the smartest games we’ve played, and great fun. Using the Daydream View motion controller, you can spin the world around, and move structures out of the way to guide your robot towards the exit goal.

The level design is smart, and the levels are beautiful. In VR you’re free to look at the game world from any angle. You don’t need a VR headset to play the game, but in VR it literally takes on a new dimension. Download it here.

Netflix VR

The Netflix VR app is an interesting one. You can do all the same things as you can on the original Netflix app, like browsing and watching all those unmissable movies and TV shows. However, the VR version of the app is more about the viewing experience itself.

Imagine watching movies in your own luxurious private lounge or cinema, and you’ll get an idea of what this app offers. It’s also a great way to catch up on the latest TV dramas without spoiling it for the rest of your household. Download it here.

If you’re interested in exploring new VR worlds, you can buy a Google Daydream View VR headset or Google Daydream View 2 VR headset from the Carphone Warehouse website. Or do you already own one of these awesome VR headsets? If so, let us know if you’ve got any more app recommendations to share in the comments below.
