The magic number
The Nokia 3 was the first of three next gen Android-powered Nokias to be revealed at Mobile World Congress in February. The entry-level smartphone will be on the shelves very soon, and this is what you can expect…
Design and display
The Nokia 3 features a soft-touch polycarbonate rear shell and sturdy aluminium frame. It feels comfortable to hold with its slim build – measuring only 8.48mm – and it’s got the familiar Android navigation keys under the display.
Unlike previous Nokia smartphones, the plastic backing can’t be clipped off and removed, meaning you no longer have to prise the battery out to insert the SIM card. Thankfully Nokia has resorted to a much more conventional method - using a pin tool – which is included in the box with the phone.
The display measures 5-inches from corner to corner, with 720p HD resolution, and it’s protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. And thanks to the polarised technology, you’ll have no problem seeing every detail both indoors, and in bright sunlight.
On the back of the smartphone there’s an 8MP camera, and a secondary sensor on the front – also 8MP. They both feature autofocus technology, which is quite rare for a front-facing lens, and with wide f/2.0 apertures they let in loads of light, too.
There’s also the Google Photos app to look forward to. Not only does it let you save all your snaps and videos to the cloud, so they don’t take up precious room on your device, but you can search for specific photos by typing in whatever appears in them.
Because Google understands what a dog, a beach, or a sunset looks like, it’ll scour through all your photos and find the exact thing you’re looking for.

Under the hood
On the inside of the Nokia 3 is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. Now, that may not necessarily be the most powerful internal spec laydown, but if you consider the price of the handset (UK pricing hasn’t yet been released, but safe to assume around £100), it’s pretty impressive.
On top of that, there’s 16GB of internal memory and a very capable 2,630mAh battery cell.
