It listens while you concentrate on the road

It won’t come as any surprise to learn that smartphone-assisted navigation outweighs the more traditional in-car sat nav. With the likes of Google Maps and Apple Maps baked into our mobiles as standard, where’s the need to invest in a sat nav?

The only problem with using our phones to guide the way is that they can become a distraction. And that’s why Logitech has created the ZeroTouch car mount - effectively transforming your car into a connected car.

Zerotouch Air Vent and Dashboard

There are two different versions of ZeroTouch. One that slots into your car’s air vent, and another that attaches to the dashboard or windscreen with the help of a suction cup. Once in place, you magnetically snap on your Android smartphone (iOS functionality is in the pipeline), which will automatically launch the app.

What does it do?

What doesn’t it do? The whole thing is operated with gestures and voice commands - neither of which require you to take your eyes off the road. By placing your hand over the phone’s IR sensor – normally above the screen – it’ll start to listen for a command, like:

  • Play ‘Rock the Casbah’ on Spotify (also available with Deezer)
  • Send a message to Andrew – tell him, “I’ll be there in ten minutes”
  • Navigate towards Portobello Road

You can use a variety of different commands in a fairly conversational manner, so it’s not like speaking to a robot.

If you like the sound of the ZeroTouch, it’s exclusively available from Carphone Warehouse. It works with all Android smartphones running or Android OS 4.4 and later, and will require a Bluetooth connection to operate.
