What’s in the box?
We’ve got our hands on the Microsoft Lumia 950, Microsoft’s premium Windows 10 smartphone. The new operating system brings a lot of welcome updates, like a refreshing look and Cortana is now present in a lot more apps.
Let’s talk top-line features. The Lumia 950 boasts a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and a 20MP PureView camera round the back, which can shoot 4K video. Round the front there’s a 5MP camera, and thanks to the hexa-core processor you won’t have any trouble running multiple tasks and apps at once.
The other big change is the introduction of USB Type-C, which lets you charge up and transfer data quicker. Its most practical use, however, is that it can be inserted either way up.
The new operating system is a really refreshing update. A lot of the big app names are now board, but there is still a deficit on Windows compared to the likes of Android and iOS. This is only going to get better over time, and the Windows 10 OS is going to be paramount in moving it forward.
Microsoft has skimmed straight over the fingerprint scanner hype, and gone directly onto iris recognition. When you unlock the phone with your eyes, you’re greeted by name. You also get a little winky face, which may sound arbitrary, but it’s a neat personal touch in our books.
If you like the sound of the Microsoft Lumia 950, it’s available to order now right here. And, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for our full review, coming soon.
