HTC One Mini 2 review

Stylish. That’s the first thing we always think of when we look at the HTC One Mini 2. This shrunken HTC One M8 is every bit as good looking as it’s bigger brother, but is a little easier to handle and easier on the bank balance.

Easily the best looking of all the mini phones, we’re really impressed with the looks of the One Mini 2. It’s a good shape for your palm, and because the screen’s smaller than the One M8, it’s easier to use too.

HTC put a 13MP camera in the One Mini 2, and it’s a very good one. Details are very high, and it always gives us nice looking shots. The front facing camera is brilliant. At 5MP, only a couple of phones give better selfies.

The 4.5” screen is pretty good on the Mini 2. It’s biggest strength though are the BoomSound stereo speakers on the front. Easily the loudest mini phone on the market, they make a real difference when listening to music or watching videos.

Polaris Office 5 is a great app that comes with the One Mini 2. It’ll let you open up documents from Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and you even turn documents into PDFs.

We get easily over a day with the Mini 2, so whatever you use it for, you won’t run out of power before you get home. The Power Saving mode is also very good. It dims the screen and slightly eases off the phones performance to extend the battery a noticeable amount.

The HTC One Mini 2 comes with one of the best news updates apps around, BlinkFeed. Just tell it the topics and apps you like, and it’ll find updates automatically. It sits on the your screen, so just swipe left and news articles, celebrity gossip, calendar reminders and more will be waiting for you.

There’s a camera feature called Zoe that we love. Turn it on to take short videos with the camera. Then the One Mini 2 will automatically put them together to make highlight reels, complete with overlaid music and visual effects. It’s ideal for showing off holidays or special occasions.
