The Sony Xperia Z2 is Sony’s most powerful smartphone ever. And it’s got some cool features that make it stand out from the crowd. So here’s everything you need to know about it.
With a waterproof body made from metal and glass, we think the Xperia Z2 looks great and has a feel of quality. But its big, sharp 5.2” screen and the waterproofing made it feel a little big in our hands. That’s not really a problem when you see how good it looks though.
We managed to take some amazing photos with the Sony Xperia Z2. It has a 20.7MP camera with loads of tech taken from Sony’s digital cameras. So we could put the camera into manual mode and play with all the settings to get the perfect shot. And we got to record 4K Ultra HD video, which gave a lot more detail than Full HD.
We loved playing games on the Xperia Z2. We actually connected a PS3 controller to it so we could get better control of games like Grand Theft Auto. And with its Full HD screen and stereo speakers, we really were absorbed by the games.
The Xperia Z2 comes with OfficeSuite preinstalled. You can use it to view documents that were made in Microsoft Office. But you have to buy an upgrade to create and edit them. It does have a good keyboard with a great swipe to type feature. It makes sending long emails much easier.
Thanks to its big battery and some clever software, we found that the Xperia Z2 had the best battery life of any high end phone. After a full 24 hours of use, we had barely used 40 per cent of the charge.
The Xperia Z2 comes with noise cancelling headphones in the box. We found that they worked quite well at getting rid of annoying background noises. They’re not as good as sets that cost hundreds of pounds, but they’re a lot better than the headphones that normally come with phones.
There are also a few odd camera modes that made video recording stand out. We broadcast a recording live to YouTube or Facebook, and people could comment on it in real time. And there was something called AR Effect, which let us put fun animations onto our videos while we recorded them.
