Our favourite metal phones and what makes them great

We love metal phones. They’re smooth, good looking, and almost every manufacturer is making them. Here are the best metal phones and why their shiny bodies make them great.

HTC One M8

There’s a lot that makes the HTC One M8 standout. There are dual rear cameras for special photo effects and super loud stereo speakers on the front. The metal body though is right up there with the best ever made. It’s smooth, comfortable and timelessly stylish. It comes in grey, silver, gold and, exclusively to Carphone Warehouse, pink.

Huawei Ascend P7

The front facing camera on the Huawei Ascend P7 is a whopping 8MP, giving the sharpest, most colourful self-portraits ever. It can even do super wide angle panorama shots to get you and your entire surroundings in view. And the metal body just adds more chic, so every time you pull it out of your pocket, the shiny body impresses you, and anyone who sees it.

Nokia Lumia 930

With a Nokia Lumia 930 you get loads of free apps. Internet radio, international maps with voice guidance, an excellent camera app, it’s all there. Nokia always makes really solid-feeling phones, so it gave the 930 a metal frame. It looks good, but really it’s there to make sure the phone is tough and keeps on going even if you drop it.

Sony Xperia Z2

Noise cancelling headphones come in the box with the Sony Xperia Z2, so if you like your music or movies, you’ll be able to enjoy them in peace. Sony made the Z2 waterproof, and to make sure it was going to survive a drop or two, it got a metal frame. It looks great with the hardened glass front and back, and makes it super strong.

BlackBerry Passport

BlackBerry’s next big release will be the BlackBerry Passport, and it’ll come sometime in autumn 2014. With a business focus, it’ll have a physical QWERTY keyboard and special software to keep everything secure. It’ll also have a stainless steel metal frame, making it tough. And because it’s stainless steel, it’ll always look shiny.

Here’s where you’ll find our latest BlackBerry smartphone range
