Sony’s latest smartphone is the Xperia E5. It’s an affordable mid-range handset, with some impressive features you’d normally only see in more premium models. Let’s take a closer look.
Design and display
The Xperia E5 is a sleek and attractive smartphone, with Sony’s familiar rounded rectangle design. It’s got a polycarbonate back with a matte texture, and this gives it a nice, solid grip. It certainly doesn’t feel like a phone that’s going to slip out of your hand when you’re on the move.
The 5-inch HD display is nice and sharp, with accurate and lifelike colours. It’s also impressively bright, and we found it perfectly readable even in direct sunlight.
The Xperia E5 has 13-megapixel rear camera, with specifications you’d normally only find with top of the range smartphones.
It’s got an LED flash, HDR, auto-focus, enhanced digital zoom and Auto Scene Recognition – this automatically adjusts your camera settings to suit your shot. Round the front, there’s a 5-megapixel camera easily capable of shooting a decent selfie or taking a Skype video call.
The Xperia E5 runs on Android Marshmallow, Google’s latest software. It’s packed with useful features that can extend your battery life, making it easier for you to search for useful information, and lots more.
Under the hood, there’s a powerful quad-core processor making everything run smoothly. And there’s also a Smart Cleaner hard at work. This clever little feature clears unused data to boost the phone’s power, performance and battery life.
Talking of which, the Xperia E5’s 2,700mAh battery will easily make it through the day, and its speedy charger will bring you back up to full power in about an hour and a half.
The Xperia E5 will be available soon. If you’re interested in buying one, keep an eye out for it in the Sony at Carphone Warehouse section of our website. In the meantime, feel free to tell us what you think about it – drop us a comment below.
