Motorola announces Moto G4 and G4 Plus

Meet the new Motos

Motorola, now owned by parent company, Lenovo, has just announced two new handsets coming to the UK this summer. The Moto G4 and G4 Plus are both packed with great features and we can’t wait for them to arrive. This is what they can do…

Moto G4

The G4, (not to be confused with the LG G4 – notice the superscripted ‘4’) replaces the Moto G (3rd gen), and has seen a bunch of improvements. The most notable is its larger screen, now 5.5-inches and at Full HD resolution – up from 5-inches. It’s also thinner with more rounded corners than its predecessor – the slimmest Moto G to date, in fact.

On the inside there’s now two quad-core processors, twice as many as the last year’s G. With two processors, the workload is split in half, with one processor looking after the smaller, more mundane tasks, like texting, while the other takes care of the big stuff, like games and movies.

Camera-wise, it’s remained the same at 13MP on the rear and 5MP on the front. Although there hasn’t been an improvement here, it's still a great camera. The G took great quality photos given its price bracket, and the G4 will too.

Moto G4 Plus

The G4 Plus sounds like it would be a larger smartphone, given its name, but it boasts the same 5.5-inch display as the G4. The real difference is the fingerprint reader, embedded on the front of the smartphone underneath the Full HD screen.

There’s also a more powerful 16MP camera on the back for photography fans. With phase laser auto focus (PLAF), you’ll be able to capture photos quicker than ever, even in poorly lit environments.

Just like the G4, the Plus has an octa-core processor on board, taking care of all your multitasking needs.

We’ll be back with a hands-on review of both handsets as soon as they get here. And if you have any questions in the mean time, drop us a comment below.
