DisplayMate, the worldwide leader in video diagnostics, has just published the results of its comprehensive display tests on the Galaxy S7. And it’s great news for those phone fans who’ve already hit the pre-order button – because DisplayMate reckons the Galaxy S7 has the best display you can currently get in a smartphone.
What makes the Samsung Galaxy S7’s display the best ever?
According to DisplayMate, the Galaxy S7’s screen has the best resolution, colour management, peak brightness, contrast ratings, colour saturation and colour accuracy of any smartphone. Ever.
The 577 pixels per inch on the Galaxy S7 creates perfectly sharp images, even when viewed from a distance, says DisplayMate. Plus, the Galaxy S7’s display reflects a mere 4.6 percent of light – one of the best values the DisplayMate boffins have ever seen.
DisplayMate was also pleased with the Galaxy S7’s 'Always-On' display technology, noting that it didn’t cause a significant power drain.
An impressive runner-up - the Samsung Galaxy Note 5
The smartphone that came closest to the Galaxy S7’s winning results was another recent Samsung offering – the Galaxy Note 5.
DisplayMate had this to say about how the two Samsung stable-mates stacked up against each other screen-wise: "The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 5 are neck-and-neck record holders for display performance, effectively tied or alternating between first and second place in almost all categories except screen size for the much larger Galaxy Note 5, and the much higher pixels per inch for the Galaxy S7.
“What is especially impressive is that the overall display specs and performance of the Galaxy S7 have been maintained or improved after being scaled down by 20 per cent in area from the Galaxy Note 5."
