Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 is over, which means now is the perfect time to see what the big brands unveiled. Samsung, Sony, LG and Huawei all took to the stage, so let’s take a quick look at what’s new.

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7

Samsung stole most headlines last night as it unpacked the new Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 – two of the most hotly anticipated phones of the year.

The two new Galaxy S7s are a great evolution on last year’s S6 and S6 edge. They’re now water-resistant, have microSD card slots and huge new batteries. There’s also a new 12MP camera – the first smartphone camera to use Dual Pixel technology to get sharper shots.

Sony Xperia X

This morning we’ve had Sony showing off its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia X. This is the first smartphone from Sony to adopt the X title, putting an end to the Z-series.

So what does the new name bring? Well, there’s a new camera that has predictive focus, which helps when you’re taking photos of moving objects. There’s also new software with more than 200 changes designed to make things easier to use.

LG G5 and Friends

LG has made a splash this year with its revolutionary LG G5. Not only is the phone completely new and full of innovations, there’s a host of fun extras that make it truly unique.

LG G5

The LG G5 is the South Korean company’s first all metal phone, but unlike other metal phones, it still has a removable battery. The battery slides out the bottom and can be replaced by a camera grip that makes taking photos much easier. That’s really handy because the G5 has a dual lens camera that takes some stunning photos.

Huawei Mate Book

While the other big mobile names were focusing on new phones, Huawei unveiled a new Windows 10 tablet, the Huawei Mate Book.

It has a one-touch fingerprint scanner to keep things secure, is really thin and light so you can carry it everywhere, and has a stylus included for added accuracy and easy note-taking.

Alcatel Idol 4S

Alcatel might not be the biggest name in the smartphone world, but the Idol 4S it announced yesterday looks like it could change that.

With a big 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, fast octa core processor, 16MP camera and big battery, the Idol 4S certainly sounds like a top of the range smartphone. But what really makes it stand out is that the box it comes in doubles as a virtual reality headset. Check out the Alcatel Idol 4S and its virtual reality box over here (picutred above).
