It feels like LG has got things a bit backwards with the upcoming LG G5. The company has just unveiled an innovative new flip case for the phone, despite the mobile being a week away from launch.
LG has already confirmed that the LG G5 will be announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) on 21 February, and that it’ll have an always-on display, but by showing off the new case the company has given us our first hint at the size and shape of the phone (it looks pretty G4-ish).
This is a smart case
At first glance, the new LG G5 Quick Cover is just another flip case with a window that lets you quickly check notifications. But unlike most other covers, this one’s touch-enabled.
That means when you get a phone call, you can swipe across the case to answer – there’s no need to flip open the cover. LG says you can also control alarms, but we hope there’ll be more functionality with time.
The small transparent window at the top of the LG G5 Quick Cover will let you check the time, date and notifications on the phone’s always-on display, making it even more convenient.
We’ll be covering the LG G5 announcement as it happens on 21 February at MWC, so be sure to check back on The Lowdown then to find out all the details about the phone and its new Quick Cover.
