Best smartphones for your Christmas list

Yes, it’s nearly that time again…

Like it or not, Christmas is on the horizon. Britain has been gripped by the brutal submission of autumn, advent calendars are appearing on the shelves, and the dark evenings are closing in. You’ll be shopping for a turkey in no time.

But, before you do that, you should get thinking about what you’ll be asking Old St. Nick for. Is it time to upgrade that old mobile phone to something spectacular? Hopefully we can give you a few ideas…

Microsoft Lumia 950

Check out the world’s first Windows 10 smartphone. With a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and 20MP PureView camera, it’s hardly surprising that this handset is set to be a popular one.

The new operating system brings the whole Windows experience to your mobile, from Office to the Start menu. Cortana, Microsoft’s voice-operated virtual assistant, is of course on board too, to make life that little bit easier.

You can register your interest in the Lumia 950 right now, and get it in time for Christmas.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the big brother to the Z5, with a couple of unique differences. First and foremost is the 5.5-inch 4K display – a world’s first on a smartphone. This promises to deliver an incredible amount of details to video and photos.

If that’s not enough, there’s a 23MP camera round the back. It has lightning fast autofocus so you can take photos faster than you can blink.

The Xperia Z5 is available to order right now, check it out here.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is undoubtedly one of the best-looking smartphones to have ever existed. The dual-edged screen slopes off either side, wrapping around the phone to provide a much more immersive handheld experience.

Of course, looks aren’t everything, and that’s why there’s a powerful 16MP camera for all your photography needs, and wireless fast-charging so you can spend more time doing the stuff you love, not plugged into the wall.

Heard enough already? Check out our deals right here, and you can see it next to the S6 edge+ in our video above.

PRIV by BlackBerry

We’ve recently seen the announcement of PRIV® by BlackBerry™, the first Android-powered BB device, which seems to have excited fans from both camps. If the eye-catching 5.4-inch Quad HD display isn’t enough, the slide-out QWERTY keyboard and 18MP camera will certainly turn a few heads.

The headline, however, is all about your privacy and security – it’s in the name. Google and BlackBerry have worked together to make something truly secure.

Sound like your bag? You can order the new phone here.

Nexus 6P & 5X

If you’re hunting for the pure Android experience on a big scale, look no further. The Nexus 6P from Huawei has an amazing 12.3MP camera on board, fronted by a 5.7-inch Quad HD display. There’s also a fingerprint sensor round the back, which is perfect for keeping all your private stuff private.

If the 6P sounds good, but maybe a little on the large side – you should check out the Nexus 5X from LG.

The 5X has a 5.2-inch Full HD display and is a little more affordable than the Huawei. There’s a 12.3MP camera on the back, next to a fingerprint sensor, and it runs the latest Android operating system, Marshmallow.

Find out more about the Nexus 5X here.
