Downloads of the week – James Bond Special

The first reviews of the new James Bond flick Spectre came out yesterday with near universal praise and 5-star ratings. So we thought we’d get in the mood by devoting our Downloads of the Week to the mysterious world of spy-craft. You can even call us Q, if you fancy.

Game

A Super Secret Agent – Special Agents on a Secret Mission

Not exactly the shortest or catchiest of names, this free download is nonetheless an enjoyable shoot ‘em up that will have you addicted (and infuriated) in no time at all.

The premise of the game is pretty basic – running, jumping and shooting your way through an endless legion of bad guys collecting treasure as you go. Just make sure you watch out for the many traps, obstacles and manholes you encounter on your way.

Download for free now from iTunes.

App

AtHome Camera

Have you got an old smartphone you no longer use just lying around? With the addition of this free app you can turn it into a security camera for your home – either to catch any burglars or find out once and for all which housemate is stealing your ketchup.

The AtHome Camera app is free to download and is easy to set up. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection and you’re ready to go. The best part is that you can sync to your existing smartphone and watch what’s going on live wherever you are – ideal if you’re on holiday and want to check-in back home.

Download on iTunes or Google Play Store.

App

Secret Agent PRO

This fun little app has everything you’ll need if you’re a budding James Bond. There’s a useful SOS-mode flash torch in case you’re ever in trouble. A GPS and GLONASS satellite positioning feature if you ever get lost. There’s also a secret video and audio recording feature, where the video or audio recording doesn’t show on your screen. There’s even a Spectogram, so you can visualise the sounds around you. Why you would want to do this is beyond us, but it’s still pretty cool to have.

Download now from Google Play Store.

Movie

Skyfall

2012’s Skyfall is widely considered to be up there with the best Bond films of all time, reflected in its record-breaking gross of over $1bn at the box-office.

As it also introduces the new M, played by Ralph Fiennes, and reintroduces Moneypenny, played by Naomi Harris, it is well worth another watch to reacquaint yourself with the main characters as they feature heavily in Spectre.

Skyfall also includes an impressive turn by Javier Bardem as Bond’s nemesis Raoul Silva – a sinister, shadowy figure who is every inch as tough, cunning and ruthless as Bond himself. Well, almost.

Stream in SD or HD from Amazon.
