LG Watch Urbane 2 and LG V10 launched

Last night, LG unveiled two new high-end gadgets - the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, the first Android Wear smartwatch to take a SIM card, and the LG V10, a smartphone with two screens on the front.

LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition

The new LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition looks pretty exciting. It’s the first smartwatch to couple Android Wear with mobile connectivity, which means you can make full use of it without having your smartphone around. Want to make a call while out for a run? No need to carry a big phone as the new Watch Urbane can connect you.

It’s also kept the great design of the original Watch Urbane, with a round face and a metal body that makes it look more like a classic watch. The only difference is that there are now two more buttons next to the crown for easier navigation.

In terms of what keeps it all running, there’s a surprisingly big 570mAh battery and a battery saver mode, a quick quad core processor, and everything you do is shown on a really sharp 1.38-inch screen.

There’s also the usual range of sensors and fitness support, including a personal trainer that gives workout tips.

LG hasn’t announced pricing yet, but it should arrive in Europe early next year after an initial launch in the US and South Korea.

LG V10

The LG V10 is a bit more unusual than the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition as LG has given it two screens. There’s the one you’d expect, a big 5.7-inch Quad HD Quantum IPS display (like the screen on the LG G4), and above that is a very narrow always-on screen.

LG says that this mini screen will keep you updated with all your notifications without hurting your battery life. It’ll also be able to show your notifications without interrupting games or movies.

LG hasn’t just doubled up on the screens with the V10, there are also two front facing cameras. The idea here is that by taking two selfies simultaneously, they can be merged into one ultra-wide angle photo. That should mean you can ditch your selfie stick.

There’s also now a manual mode for videos, making this the first phone that’ll let you control ISO, frame rate, exposure and aspect ratio in videos. And you can record using all three cameras simultaneously so you can cut together the different angles later.

Unfortunately, LG doesn’t have any plans to bring the LG V10 to Europe, but it might be giving us an early hint at what to expect from next year’s LG G5.
