When you were younger, getting the Friday feeling meant a Crunchie bar and a double whammy of The Simpsons on BBC 2. Now those were the days.

But as you get older, a little extra oomph is needed on the weekend. And, as Friday night is where the weekend kicks off, here are a few suggestions on how to make your night on the tiles even better with a just a few simple downloads. Enjoy!



Let’s face it; there are few things worse than going to a restaurant on Friday night and having a bad meal, especially if you have been working hard all week.

The Zomato app ensures that you can find the best local eateries for whichever cuisine you fancy.

To ensure information is fresh, a member of the Zomato team heads to each restaurant every three months. There are also numerous reviews and pictures from the Zomato community, so you’ll always be in the know about the best restaurants in which to spend your hard-earned cash.

Barchick is your personal party planner and helps you find the best bars whether you’re out on a date or out with your mates.

In order to locate the best drinking hole, Barchick has a series of drop down menus so that you can input your preferences and find something to your tastes.

All of this information is then used to highlight the best bars to head to, so you can always be ahead of the curve and in the perfect setting for a night on the town. The app currently covers most of the UK’s major cities, as well as an array of top places around the world - from Barbados to Bangkok.

If you love your craft and real ales, then Caskfinder is the app for you. Put simply, it’s an ale trail that covers over 9,600 pubs across the UK that have been commended for the quality of their cask beers.

Not only are you guaranteed of a good pint, but you can discover cool little pubs that you probably wouldn’t have even known about. And as it covers the whole of the UK, you’ll always find the best places to quench your thirst no matter where you are.

YPlan is one of the best ways to find out about all of the top events going on in your city.

Simply open up the app, browse what’s going on and book your tickets in a few simple taps. And as events are updated each day, there’ll always be something going on that you can go and see, do or experience.

Though it currently only covers London, YPlan is soon to be rolled out across other cities too - so watch this space.
