Which is the best Windows Phone?

As we've already mentioned, there’s plenty to get excited about with Windows 10, Microsoft’s biggest software upgrade yet.

All Windows Phone owners will get a free upgrade soon (more details on Microsoft’s Windows 10 mobile upgrade information page), so there’s never been a better time to get your hands on one.

With Windows 10 installed, you’ll have some fantastic new features to enjoy - and most of them have been designed to sync effortlessly across different Windows devices. For example, with the new Universal Apps functionality, if you clear an app on your phone it’ll also be removed from your PC.

Windows 10 will also give you an all new and improved Office and Outlook, with OneDrive to store, share and sync all your files with other people and devices on the web.

And of course, we all love Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual personal assistant.

So, which is the best Windows Phone to buy?

If you’re thinking about making the switch to a Windows Phone, here are five of the best.

Microsoft Lumia 435

The Microsoft Lumia 435 is one of the best budget smartphones around. It’s reliable, easy to use and gives you the kind of smartphone experience that you’d normally get with a higher-end model. Yes, it’s a budget device – but because it’s a Windows Phone it comes with Office, Skype and Cortana preinstalled. Plus 30GB of storage space on OneDrive. And, it’s got a front-facing camera for selfies, too.

Nokia Lumia 630

The Nokia Lumia 630 is another brilliant budget Windows Phone, and there’s really not much in it, between this and the Lumia 435. Maybe your decision will come down to the difference in cameras...

The Lumia 630 has a great 5-megapixel rear camera, but no front camera. The Lumia 435, on the other hand, has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3MP front-facing camera.

So, if you want a better quality rear camera and aren’t too fussed about selfies, the Lumia 630 could be for you.

Microsoft Lumia 535

The Microsoft Lumia 535 is a superfast phone with a large 5-inch display, and 5-megapixel cameras front and rear.

The fact this phone also comes with the popular Lumia selfie app makes it an especially good choice for all lovers of a good selfie. It’s great for Skyping too, with the wide-angle lens showing more of what’s behind you, letting you get more family and friends involved in the call.

Nokia Lumia 635

The Nokia Lumia 635’s 4G connectivity makes this the phone to go for if you like being entertained when you’re out and about. It’s also got a powerful quad-core processor hard at work behind the scenes, so everything’s really fast – even when you’re multitasking with a few apps open at the same time.

It’s worth noting that just like the Nokia Lumia 630, this phone has a great 5-megapixel camera but no front-facing selfie camera. So just as long as you’re not a selfie addict, you’ll love this phone’s speedy 4G mobile internet.

Microsoft Lumia 640

Which is the best Windows Phone, did you say? What about the Lumia 640? It’s got a large 5-inch HD display, awesome front and rear camera, speedy 4G connectivity, a powerful quad-core processor and great battery life.

The Lumia 640 shares a lot of features with its predecessor, the Lumia 630. But for us, the 640's superior cameras and sharper screen make it a clear winner. Even if you're on a fairly tight budget, this Windows Phone could be well within your pice range.
