Don’t hate Monday, make Monday hate you
Monday’s here again, bringing with it heavy eyes and a desire to laze in bed all morning. Unfortunately, the majority of us have to go to work on Mondays, and those who have the luxury of a Monday lie in, probably won’t be reading this anyway.
To help you with future Mondays, we thought we’d explore the best ways your smartphone can get you out of bed in the morning - and send you off to the land of nod in the first place.
To get started, we’ve got Wake, for iOS. It’s a very basic premise, but as with most successful apps available from the App Store, its design really makes it stand out. It also hosts some intuitive movement controls, to help coax you out of bed in the AM.
You can slap it to snooze, flip it to sleep and shake it to gradually turn off the alarm noise (which sounds a little like a jumping Super Mario according to the ad, which you can view below).
RadiON, is another one of our favourites, available from the Google Play Store. It basically does what it says on the tin - allowing you to wake up to the radio, just like we did in the olden days.
As our smartphones are a bit more advanced than the AM/FM radio frequencies, you have access to over 50,000 online radio stations from around the globe – but remember that if you go too far afield, they probably won’t be playing the breakfast show.
But, what about getting to bed in the first place? If you didn’t stay up watching Netflix all night, you might be more prepared to peel back the blankets in the morning, and get started with your day.
Relax Melodies is available for iOS and Android, providing a library of relaxing sounds to help put you to sleep. From natural noises like rivers and winds, to calming music, there’s definitely something to drown out your partner’s relentless snoring.
Take heed of this latter advice, and you may find yourself less tired in the mornings.
The best of luck for the rest of your Monday from us here at The Lowdown - we’re all in the same boat. Power on.
