If you’ve just got your brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 home, you’re probably keen to get set up and start showing it off.
But before you can organise a big meet up with your mates, where you can highlight all of the S6’s excellent features, you’ll need their numbers from your old phone. This is how you do it.
Android to S6
Download the Smart Switch app from the Google Play Store on both your phones. Once you’ve done that, place your old phone and your new one side by side, and launch the app. Set the Samsung as the receiving device, and tap Connect.
If you’re struggling for a connection, make sure both phones are connected to Wi-Fi, have over 50% of battery charge and are within range of each other. If they still can’t find each other, you should be given a four-digit code to enter.
When they’ve connected, select the stuff you want to transfer, tap Send, and your stuff should begin to magically float across. Simple.
iOS to S6
If you’re old smartphone is an iOS device, the process is slightly different. For this transfer, you’ll have to use the Samsung micro USB connector - physically connecting the two phones.
Again, make sure they’re both charged over 50% and once plugged in, you should receive a notification recognising that there has been a connection made.
Follow the on screen instructions, selecting what you’d like to transfer, before tapping Import. This can take anywhere up to 30 minutes.
When it’s done, you might find that some of the apps you had previously aren’t available from the Google Play Store. If this is the case tap Recommendations, and Smart Switch will find the app’s closest match.
