Glastonbury: What the weather apps forecast

Will it be sunny at Glasto?

It’s nearing that time of year again where hoards of music lovers descend upon Somerset’s legendary Worthy Farm to enjoy some of the finest musical acts in the world.

Glastonbury Festival is renowned for a lot of things, and unfortunately, one of those things is an insurmountable amount of mud. To put the weather speculation to bed, we’ve had a look at the apps to gauge just how wet, or warm, it’s going to be.

A poor start to the weekend

Unfortunately, you shouldn’t expect the blazing sun of 2010 - let’s just get that out the way right now. At the moment, wellies are looking advisable with AccuWeather suggesting that Thursday will bring with it a splash of rain, but with temperatures staying quite reasonable with highs of 19C.

Weather Outlook suggests similar temperatures on Thursday, but with no sign of rain – that’s coming the following day just in time for the Foo’s replacement, Florence + The Machine.

Over the course of Friday, temperatures are looking towards 17C with lows of 8C in the evening according to AccuWeather. BBC Weather looks to be in agreement on the whole, predicting things will be a little warmer with highs of 20C but cloudy.

Saturday looks to be bringing with it some sunshine (touch wood), with temperatures staying around the 21C mark. BBC and Weather Outlook are suggesting sunny intervals and high humidity, however AccuWeather is forecasting a few showers.

Brightening up on Sunday

Finally Sunday is looking like much of the same with AccuWeather and BBC saying a day of clouds and mild warmth (around 20C). However, Weather Outlook might just make your weekend, suggesting temperatures will jump up to 24C between midday – sundown, which should make for a great atmosphere at the Pyramid Stage with Lionel Richie, Paul Weller and The Who.

So, in summation – it’s going to be a little bit rainy going in, not that cold throughout, and potentially sunny on Sunday.

To keep up date closer to the time, we’d recommend you download at least one of the three apps - all available from your favourite app store.
