Downloads of the Week: Women's FIFA World Cup

It is of course the Women’s FIFA World Cup, and we’re showing our support with some of the top downloads from the app stores that celebrate the great game.

Film
Bend It Like Beckham, directed by Gurinder Chadha

Aspiring football star, Jess, dreams of stadium lights and roaring crowds, however her parents’ traditional values don’t bode well with her desire to be on the pitch.

When Jess meets Jules, a fellow football fanatic, she’s invited to join a women’s only football team and quickly finds herself rapt by the new world of likeminded athletes. However, trouble lies ahead when Jess’ parents find out what she’s been doing with her spare time.

After starting life as a book, then a feature length film, Bend It Like Beckham has now been adapted for the stage - now showing in theatres. Check out more information right here.

Footballer: My Story by Kelly Smith

Kelly Smith’s dream has always been football. Although she’s now one the most admired international female footballers in the world, it seemed like a pipedream to the shy girl from Watford once upon a time.

Smith now heads up Arsenal Ladies, is former-England’s national team captain and played for Team GB in the 2012 Olympics.

Check out Kelly’s full story, which is available to download from the Google Play Store, App Store and Amazon. Photo by TIME.

Music
Imagine Dragons – ‘Warriors’

The official song of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup is ‘Warriors’ by American alt-rock band, Imagine Dragons.
