Will this year's Wembley final be the most connected ever?

Saturday's connected FA Cup Final

This season's FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Crystal Palace kicks off at Wembley, 5:30pm, Saturday 21 May. Will it be an enthralling encounter? We're not so sure.

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has gained quite a reputation for his team's boring style of play this season. So this could be the first FA Cup Final when the stadium itself is more thrilling than the match...

EE’s connected Wembley

EE has worked hard to make Wembley the most connected stadium in the world. Here are some of the things the mobile network operator has created to try and achieve its goal.

The Wembley arch gets emotional.
The famous arch has been installed with a state-of-the-art lighting system that will react to the big moments in the game, including goals, crowd noise and even ‘sentiment tracked live across social media’, whatever that means.

There’s also a special Arch Cam for viewers to watch the light displays live via the Wembley app (more on that below).

Tap to pay for your food and drink.
Have you ever struggled to get back to your seat in time for the second half? Perhaps you've even missed a goal as you attempt to weave through fans while balancing two pies on a single cup of Bovril. If so, you’ll appreciate Cash on Tap. It’s available at all the food and drink outlets in Wembley Stadium, and lets you pay for purchases under £20 with a simple tap of your phone. (Unfortunately there's no word yet on whether you'll be able to use Android Pay).

More capacity for 3G and 4G fans.
EE has doubled the 3G and 4G capacity inside Wembley to make the mobile experience for fans faster and better. So if you want to ask your Man U-loving Facebook friends how Rooney could miss the target from such a close range, you’ll be able to do it all super-quick, with less annoying buffering than ever before.

Get the Wembley app

There’s a great Wembley app available for free on Android or iOS. If you’re going to the final, it promises to be your trusty companion. You’ll be able to find the best way to the stadium with the app’s inbuilt travel planner, get messages based on your location, check out the interactive stadium map, and see the view from your seat.

You don’t have to be attending the game to enjoy the app though - you can also use it to get the latest Wembley event information and ticket availability. And you can view Arch Cam live on it.

So will it be Palace or United climbing the 107 steps to lift the trophy on Saturday? Feel free to give us your big match predictions below - preferably before the match ends for bonus brownie points.
