Cortana coming to Android and iOS

Covering all bases with Cortana

Today Microsoft announced that it’s bringing its virtual assistant, Cortana, to Android and iOS.

Individually tailored apps will be released this summer for both operating systems, meaning that no matter what kind of smartphone you use, you can get the best of Cortana. Some features, like the hands-free launch command “Hey Cortana”, won’t be made available straight away, but it’s set to come a bit further down the line.

There will also be integration of Microsoft services like OneDrive and OneNote, too.

Windows 10

Microsoft understands that the world doesn’t revolve around Windows, but it is an undeniably integral part. A lot of its customers also have an Android or Apple device, so giving them the opportunity to take the Windows experience with them just seems to make sense.

Joe Belfiore from the Windows Team says: “Whether it’s a 3-year-old printer or projecting to your brand new TV with Miracast, we’re building Windows 10 to be terrific at connecting all your devices.”

The Phone Companion app will be a big part of the new Windows 10 OS, which will be coming to customers very soon – free of charge. This will allow you to transfer everything from your smartphone to your desktop or laptop, without losing the functionality of either.

There will also be an updated version of the Xbox Music app for iOS and Android, which will give you free playback of all your tracks from OneDrive.
