S Voice or Google Now?

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge come with both S Voice and Google Now, so we’ve compared them to see how to use voice commands on the top Galaxy.
S Voice or Google Now?

You can use voice commands on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge through both S Voice and Google Now. But how do the two apps work and which one’s better? Let’s take a look.

What are S Voice & Google Now?

S Voice is Samsung’s own voice controlled personal assistant. It was created to compete with Apple’s Siri before Google Now came to Android phones, which is why the Galaxy S6 has two voice apps.

The new version of S Voice that comes with the new phone can be activated using a custom phrase, anything from ‘Hi Galaxy’ to ‘Oi! Wake up’ will turn it on. And that wake-up command works from any screen, even when the phone’s locked and unplugged.

Google Now can also be activated with a spoken wake-up command, ‘Ok Google’, but since a recent update, it only works from the Google app.

Once you’ve got the voice controlled apps up and listening, you can tell them to do loads of stuff. Check out the examples that each of the apps give below:

Which is best?

On the Galaxy S6, we think S Voice is probably slightly better. That’s because it’s always listening, which makes it really easy to open and use quickly. And while it might look like S Voice has fewer functions than Google Now, we’ve found it can do a lot of the extra stuff, like take photos.

Google Now does have a few really handy extras if you use other Google products, like Gmail, Play Music or Play Movies, but the most useful stuff is covered by both apps.
