EE to give away free battery packs

EE customers will be able to get afree EE Power Bar to recharge their phones while on the move, as of 16 April 2015.

The power bar should be able to fully recharge your phone once. You can then charge the power bar yourself or take it into any EE store, where you can swap it for a fully charged one.

Anyone with an EE phone or EE broadband can get a free power bar to keep their phone topped up on the move. You need to be on a 30 day, 12, 18 or 24 month plan, or have been on EE pay as you go for at least three months.

EE Power BarTo get your power bar, you’ll need to get a code. Mobile customers will have to text ‘POWER’ to 365, while broadband customers will have to text ‘JOIN’ and their home phone number to 60005 and the follow some simple instructions. Texts will cost 35p.

If you text prior to the launch date you will not be charged, and will be advised to text again after 16 April.

EE Power Bar specs

The EE Power Bar weighs in at a decent 2,600mAh battery capacity. That’s enough to charge most smartphones, but some, like the Sony Xperia Z3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4, won’t quite get a full top up. When it comes to recharging the power bar, it’ll take around four hours when using the included micro USB lead.

The power bar also has an LED torch and indicator lights that show how much charge is left in the battery.
