HERE is one of the best mapping apps around and now it’s free to download from the Google Play Store.
What makes Nokia’s HERE so good? It has free offline navigation, which is great if you’re somewhere without signal. There are maps for hundreds of countries so it’s perfect for holidays. And there’s up to date information on public transport. Plus the maps are all really accurate and have all the navigation features, like spoken directions, you’d expect from a sat nav.
The new app doesn’t just bring support for Android phones; it comes with navigation for loads of extra countries. Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Cyprus, Iraq, Libya, Mauritania, Mauritius, Nepal, Paraguay, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Zambia and Zimbabwe are all now covered.
Nokia also says that HERE will launch on iOS at the start of next year, so you should be able to get it on your iPhone in a month or two.
