LG G Flex 2 announced

LG has launched its second curved smartphone, the LG G Flex 2. And it’s the most powerful smartphone around.

The incredible power comes from the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. This high tech chip is a 2GHz 64-bit octa core powerhouse. In simple terms, it should give faster performance and better battery life than you’ll get from any Android phone.

Aside from the spectacular power, the most striking thing about the G Flex 2 is its curved screen and body. Like with the original G Flex, this curve lets the phone fit in the palm of your hand better and brings the microphone closer to your mouth when you’re making a call.

The curve is possible because LG has create a plastic OLED screen, rather than the traditional glass screens. This new screen is much sharper than the one on the old G Flex. The resolution has been upped to Full HD and the size is down to 5.5 inches, which should make your pockets happy.

We’ve always loved OLED screens as they produce perfect blacks and really bright colours, so whatever you’re watching looks really natural.

The original G Flex was known for its impressive durability, but LG has made the G Flex 2 even more tough. The screen’s now coated in special materials to make it 20% tougher, while the self-healing back works hugely faster. So if you scratch your G Flex 2, it’ll heal in just 10 second.

That’s pretty unbelievable, but it is true. Phone Arena tested the claims in the video below:

The self-healing coating isn’t the only improvement on the back of the LG G Flex 2, there’s a new 13MP camera with optical image stabilisation and laser autofocus. That should make sure your photos are pin sharp and taken in a fraction of a second.

On the inside, the LG G Flex 2 has an impressively big battery to keep its powerful processor and new screen ticking all day. The 3,000mAh cell also has fast charging, so it’ll only take 40 minutes to charge from flat to 50%.

LG says that the G Flex 2 will launch in Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red in South Korea at the end of January and there’ll be a global launch soon after.
