The connected garden of Edyn

Gardening’s a lot of hard work, and for many of us with fingers that are less than green, it can involve a lot of trial and error.

If only plants could speak, they might be able to tell us what they need. They’d let us know if they wanted more water, different soil or moved to a different spot in the garden. And that’s pretty much what a new smart garden system claims to do…

Edyn looks like it’s going to be one of the best smart garden products when it becomes available this spring. It doesn’t make your plants speak (sorry if we got your hopes raised there) but it does promise to make them thrive.

EDYN GARDEN SENSOR

The Edyn Garden Sensor is the device that does all the hard work. Stick it into your soil, and it can work out things like the level of soil nutrition and how humid or dry the soil is. It tracks the temperature, and how much sunlight your garden’s getting.

Edyn then browses the net to get the latest meteorological data for your area, and gives you gardening advice based on all the research it’s done.

So you’ll be given information on the types of fertiliser you should be using, the types of plants that are best suited to your garden, and even how often they should be getting watered. It does the watering for you too…

EDYN WATER VALVE

The Edyn Water Valve uses all the data collected by the sensor to water your garden. And, as you would expect from a smart gardening device, it does this in a much more efficient way than most amateur gardeners possibly could.

It keeps a close eye on the weather forecast, so it stops any plants getting watered before a downpour. This is good for the health of your plants, and also great for saving water.

You can view all of Edyn’s data in real time on your smartphone app, and you can set up alerts to make sure you’re doing everything you can to keep your beloved plants as healthy as possible.

Edyn looks set for a spring release, and you can preorder it on their website here.

Are you as excited as us about this smart garden tech? We’d love to hear from expert gardeners – would you be happy to leave everything to Edyn? Let us know what you think by commenting below.
