How to stay powered up on the go

The best portable chargers money can buy

Keeping your smartphone powered up on the go isn’t always easy if you’re going to be away from home for a while. The average smartphone battery might get you through a day and a half with moderate use, and possibly less if you’re using it with accessories like a Bluetooth speaker or a VR headset.

Thankfully, there is a solution. Carphone Warehouse stocks a variety of portable chargers to make sure you can get the most out of both your smartphone and the gadgets that go with it.

Kit powerbanks

One of the big names in portable charging is Kit, or KitVision. The company produces powerbanks letting you charge up on the move.

When choosing a powerbank, it’s good to understand the battery capacity of your gadgets, which are measured in mAh (milli Ampere hour). Here’s a rough guide of some of our best selling smartphones’ battery sizes.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 – 3,000mAh
  • iPhone 7 – 1,960mAh
  • LG G6 – 3,300mAh
  • Huawei P10 – 3,200mAh
  • Google Pixel – 2,770mAh
  • Sony Xperia XZ – 2,900mAh

If we’ve not included your phone, drop us a message below and we’ll add it to the list.

Kit powerbanks are available in a variety of sizes, including 2,000mAh, 4,000mAh, 6,000mAh, and 10,000mAh. Click the links to order your own.

Belkin power packs

Next up is Belkin, because what’s life without a little bit of competition? In a similar vein, Belkin produces portable power packs varying in size and capacity. You can order Belkin products from Carphone Warehouse’s website, with options of the 2,000mAh unit, or the 4,000mAh.

What’s the difference?

We hear you - what separates these pocket power-boosters? Well, some let you charge more than one thing at once, often offering more than one USB port for you to plug into. Whereas others may feature a built in torch – perfect for camping or festivals.
