Make the most of Google Chrome

Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers available. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of Google Chrome.
Make the most of Google Chrome

Google Chrome is the most popular internet browser around. If you’re using it on your mobile device already, are you making the most of it? To speed up your internet browsing on the move, we’ve unearthed a few top hints and tips for you:

You’ll usually be able to do the standard ‘pinch to zoom’ gesture when browsing a webpage on Chrome, but rather annoyingly, this feature is disabled on certain websites. Not a problem if you’re using an Android device though, you can force any site to zoom in and out at your command by accessing the Chrome menu then going to ‘Settings’, ‘Accessibility’ and tapping on the ‘Force enable zoom’ box.

Here’s another nifty feature that’ll shave precious fractions of a second from your mobile browsing.

Instead of merely tapping the Chrome menu, keep your finger pressed down on it. The menu will open as normal, and you can then swiftly swipe down to your chosen option and lift your finger off the screen. The option you selected will appear, and you’ll have done it all in one single, satisfying motion.

You can use Google Voice in Chrome to help you browse, and it’s easy to access it. Just tap the address bar, then ‘x’ on the right hand side, and then the microphone icon. You’re then free to say your piece, which could be a search term, website address or a specific question.

Chrome lets you swipe through your open tabs to quickly find the one you want. The exact method is slightly different depending on the kind of device you’re using:

On an iOS device, simply put your finger on the edge of the screen and swipe towards the middle.

On your Android phone, put your finger anywhere on the Chrome toolbar at the top of the screen (the area where website addresses are displayed) and swipe left or right to whiz through your open webpages.

If you’ve got a question that you need answered quickly, there’s no need to think about the best website to visit. Just type the question straight into Chrome’s search box, and your answer will be displayed as the first search result. Use it as a handy calculator, translator, currency converter, or try asking it any sensible question.

We hope these handy tips will help you make the most of Google Chrome on your mobile device. If you’ve got any more tricks to speed up your browsing when you’re out and about, please feel free to share them.
