Five perfect festival phones

Summer’s here, and it’s festival time. Glastonbury might be taking a break this year, but from British Summer Time to the Isle of Wight Festival, Lovebox to Latitude, you can rest assured that there’s plenty of great music to be found all over the country. If only the great British weather could be as dependable.

If the sun shines, music festivals are amazing places to be. But if the heavens open, things can get very messy, very quickly. Expect mud baths and campsites so squalid, they’d shame any student. And believe us, you’ll soon wish you hadn’t taken your expensive new smartphone. So, if you’re preparing for festival season, you might want to leave your phone at home, and go for one of these instead.

Nokia 1

The Nokia 1 is a good, dependable phone. There’s a big-enough 4.5-inch screen, a couple of cameras that do the job and 8GB of internal storage on board, which is expandable. It’s affordable, but doesn’t look cheap. And because it runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition), you can use apps without the lags.

Huawei Y6 2017

Here’s an affordable smartphone that doesn’t compromise when it comes to the camera. On the back, there’s a 13MP camera with dual flash for clear, bright shots. And there’s a great 5MP lens on the front for super selfies. There’s 16GB of storage and a good sized 5-inch HD display. Get it SIM free for under £100.

Alcatel 10.66

A phone for under £20? Surely not? Well, it’s true, and the Alcatel 10.66 is the phone with that unusually cheap price tag. The thing is, though, it does the job. It’s sturdy yet lightweight, and made for the bumps and bruises it’s bound to get at a festival. The battery life is brilliant, and there are little extras like a calendar and FM radio. And the best thing is, if you lose it, it’s not the end of the world.

Nokia 3310

Just as you remember from the old days, the Nokia 3310 is the ultimate nostalgia trip. But it’s not just about nostalgia; the new 3310 is a great phone in its own right. OK, there’s no Wi-Fi, but it does have 3G so you can browse the web if you really need to check something out. It’s also got great battery life to last a whole weekend, and is pretty durable too.

Moto c

The Moto C is affordable, bold and colourful. And while it’s not top, top spec, it’s certainly got everything you need while you’re living it up. It has a nice bright 5-inch screen and with 16GB of storage, that’s enough to store all the pics and vids you need.

Those are some of our favourite budget phones, just perfect for a festival. Any thoughts on any of these, or anything we’ve missed? Be sure to tell us below.
