LG G7: what we'd like to see

What we ThinQ about LG's new flagship

Have you heard? LG is releasing a new flagship smartphone next month. According to numerous reports, it’s likely to be named the LG G7 ThinQ, and it could be LG’s best phone yet. We’re still awaiting official details, but here are some of the features we’re hoping to see when it arrives. Read on to discover why this LG could be worth waiting for…

The brightest screen of any phone, ever

The LG G7 ThinQ will be fantastic for watching movies, it seems. That’s because it’s said to have an exceedingly bright 6.1-inch LCD display, according to The Verge. We’re taking more photos than ever, and watching more movies on-the-go, so a brighter display will make viewing movies and playing games an even better experience.

HDR video recording

The tech journalists over at Pocket-lint have heard rumours of HDR video capture. What’s so special about that, you ask? Well, it's a technology previously only seen in high-end televisions.

HDR produces a wider spectrum of colours, so bright tones stand out more, and dark shades never appear washed-out and grey. Expect to be amazed at the quality of video you’ll be able to watch and record.

Rear dual-lens camera

Dual-lens cameras are all the rage these days. The ThinQ is said to have two 16MP cameras, Know Your Mobile reports, and an f/1.5 aperture that should be great for taking photos even in low light conditions. With an extra camera on the rear, you’ll be able to take more detailed photos, and achieve those stunning blurred background effects.

It’s only a matter of time before all smartphones have a at least a dual-lens camera, so we’re hoping the LG G7 ThinQ follows suit.

Of course, if you want a phone with a triple-lens camera, then check out the Huawei P20 Pro. It’s the world’s first smartphone to have three cameras on the rear. Read all about its camera, here.

A faster processor

When it comes to performance, the LG G7 ThinQ should be a worthy upgrade on the LG V30. GSM Arena suggests it’ll have a faster Snapdragon 845 processor. So, your apps will open faster, and you’ll be able to play more of the latest games. Expect to see more dual-camera apps in future, so a faster processor should run them with ease.

Improved voice recognition skills

The LG G7 ThinQ will have Android and Google Assistant voice controls built in, but it’s the G7-specific voice recognition skills we’re most intrigued about. TechRadar has heard rumours of far-field voice recognition. So, your new LG phone could potentially hear you from up to 17 feet away. That could be handy if you lose your phone, and want to call out for it.
