Android's cream of the crop

A cut above the rest

There’s a vast choice of great Android smartphones available to buy at Carphone Warehouse. Most manufacturers’ flagships will do everything you’d ever want a smartphone to do, but if you’re looking for something to really make your mates green with envy, you might want to check out this premium range of Android devices...

Samsung Galaxy Note8
Flagship: Samsung Galaxy S8

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is the largest of the Galaxy family, with a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ display and an awesome 12MP dual lens camera.

Although the screen sounds massive – and it is - it doesn’t actually make for a giant smartphone. Samsung’s infinity display stretches over almost the entire face of the phone, leaving just a tiny sliver of bezel at the top and bottom. It’s perfect for taking notes and sketching with the S Pen, and the picture quality is up there with the very best.

What does it do better than the flagship?

The screen is bigger. It has Samsung’s iconic S Pen – which is now better than ever, being totally re-engineered for a more natural writing experience. And the dual lens camera features live depth focus for blurry-background photos.

LG V30
Flagship: LG G6

LG’s V-series of smartphones has never been available on British soil - until now. The V30 features a super-tall 6-inch Quad HD+ display (18:9 ratio) and its dual lens camera weighs in at 13MP and 16MP.

Point Zoom is one of the V30’s great features, letting you pan in and out of any area in the video frame. Normally you’d only be able to zoom in on a central position, but this feature will add a next-level element to your home videos.

What does it do better than the flagship?

It’s bigger, yet thinner. You can record and export video in 4K Cine-log format for editing later without loss of any quality. And with B&O Play integration you can record directional Hi-Res Audio.

Head over to Carphone Warehouse’s website to find out more about the LG V30.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium
Flagship: Sony Xperia XZ1

The XZ Premium may have been released slightly before the XZ1, but it still comes with a few superior specs. The most noticeable is the 4K HDR display (compared the XZ1’s Full HD res), measuring 5.5-inches from corner to corner.

It’s the first smartphone to feature a screen of this calibre, and it really does look amazing. It also lets you record super slow-mo video at 960 frames per second (fps).

What does it do better than the flagship?

It’s the world’s first smartphone to feature a 4K HDR screen, for incredible visuals. And it’s got a much bigger battery under the hood, at 3,230mAh.
