3 things we love about Android Wear 2.0

What’s new: Android Wear 2.0

Android Wear 2.0 finally has a confirmed launch date - 9 Feb. Just like smartphones, smartwatches have operating systems, too. Android Wear runs on the broadest range of smartwatches, including Huawei, Motorola, Sony, and Asus.

It’s the most universal OS and this is wat you can expect...

A better view

Apps are becoming customised for use on the wrist, with Google and a long list of developers dedicated to making the most of the smaller screen. Now when you tap the side button (or at least this is what you do on LG’s new watch) you’ll be given an arch of all your apps for easy selection.

New faces

Not only will there be some fresh new clock designs, but you’ll also be able to view more information at a glance. With 2.0, the likes of Spotify and Google Fit will be available from the home screen.

Messaging getting easier

Texting your mates isn’t easy on a smartwatch because the screen is so small, but 2.0 brings with it some new input methods. You can draw out letters to create messages, or Google’s keyboard can be summoned by swiping in from the side of the screen. As we said, the screen isn’t large, so you’ll need a particularly delicate touch.

Where will Android Wear 2.0 appear?

It's coming on 9 Feb. A bunch of smartwatch manufacturers have already confirmed that the update is on its way, including LG, Huawei, Motorola, and Tag Heuer. The other big names like Asus, Sony and Fossil are set to follow suit.
